Here is a departure from the norm, a recognition that for those who practice SUP yoga, not merely as a casual activity, but as part of a lifestyle, even a necessity, or as part of rehabilitation process, the Lotus acknowledges this level of importance and the sincerity of participation.
It includes a deck free from any obstructions, a drag handle on the tail and D-rings for the attachment and use of a shoulder strap, which doubles as a foot securement point for sit-ups or as a hand hold for leg raises for example. The strap can be repositioned with ease and worn for carrying either side. It features a simple carry handle if the strap is not used.
There’s a small cargo-net for securing clothing, drinks bottles or a dry bag and we’ve made the board 5” thick and added a central reinforcing stringer along the underside to improve rigidity. With such a wide tail section, we’ve opted for a twin fin system using US fin boxes, so as any standard fin may be added and supplied x 2 soft fins in keeping with the nature of the board. If needs be, the fins can be removed for land based use or add in small thrusters for use in shallow waters.
In considering the design of the Lotus, we wanted something that should appeal on a number of levels. The vision ultimately, was to create a ‘skin upon a skin’ - a platform upon the surface of the water for yoga and as a meditative space, evoking a feeling of calm by its very nature, with the capability of being able to be paddled with relative ease.
